Our Mission, Values
and Vision for the Future
The Arlington Youth Counseling Center is committed to promoting and supporting the social and emotional well-being of all Arlington's youth and families, regardless of ability to pay.
Providing equitable access to mental health services is central to our vision for the future. Our goal is to build organizational sustainability while simultaneously increasing our capacity to serve all Arlington youth and families.
Fiscal Year 2026 Goals:
- Provide comprehensive, affirming, and high-quality mental health care to community youth and families.
Increase the number of annual clients served by at 5%. - Expand partnership with Arlington METCO program to other Arlington Public Schools (currently serving METCO students in Arlington High School and Gibbs Middle School, only).
- Offer therapeutic and peer support groups which incorporate Collaborative Problem-Solving tools for parents and caregivers of children with identified mental health needs.
- Expand the clinic’s ability to promote equity and serve the town’s increasingly diverse population and youth with limited English proficiency through integrating a racial equity lens into all work.
- Continue the Center’s ongoing racial equity work through monthly racial equity subcommittee meetings and partnership with the town’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion division.
- Invest in continued professional development and clinical skills training opportunities among staff to ensure high quality mental health services that are evidence-based, culturally responsive, trauma informed, and equitably delivered.
- Complete renovation of and furnish Whittemore Robbins Cottage to create additional welcoming, child-friendly, and therapeutic spaces for clients.
- Assist at least 150 Arlington families who make a lower income in purchasing gifts for their children by administering the Holiday Help program.
- Work with the AYCC Advisory Board to carry out the mission of AYCC through fundraising initiatives, community outreach and promotional activities, and educational opportunities for parents and caregivers in the community.
